Novice DAS Course
This course is suitable for a rider with no previous experience (Novice)
If you haven’t already taken the Theory Test, then the course will start with an hour to take this at a DVSA Theory Test Centre.
The first day will be the Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) course done on a manual 125cc motorcycle. Should you need further training for your CBT, this is done at a reduced price. Often this is the hardest day of the course.
The second session of training will also be done on a 125cc motorcycle and is called a Road Rider Session. This is a fully structured course that covers all the elements of the road giving you all the practical experience of dealing with hill starts, roundabouts, junctions, one-way streets etc., in considerably more detail than the CBT. The idea is to give plenty of time riding a geared motorcycle while learning the road craft. For this reason we repeat the Road Rider Session.
The fourth session is Mod 1 Training Session where you will be riding a 600cc motorcycle. You will be introduced to a larger motorcycle and go through all the training required for the Module 1 Motorcycle Test. This training session will all take place in the training area. You will cover slow manoeuvres; slalom, figure of eight, U-turn, slow ride and pushing & parking. This is then followed by the faster exercises: controlled stop, emergency stop and avoidance (swerve).
The fifth session is Mod 1 Test Session, which has the Module 1 Test done in this time (this takes about 15 minutes) but essentially is a road skills based session. There may be a small amount of time to recap on the Mod 1 exercises before riding to the test centre.
The sixth session is Mod 2 Training Session. This is entirely road based and is preparing you for the Module 2 Test. Topics like the Show Me/Tell Me questions, Angled Start, Hill Start and Independent Ride will be covered, as well as a wide variety of road and traffic conditions.
The final session is Mod 2 Test Session and includes the Module 2 Test. We will ride you to the test centre and use such time available as a warm up and final prep. Once passed you will have a full licence to ride any motorcycle.
